SUMMER CAMPS

NVTRP offers various summer riding packages that are designed to integrate children with and without disabilities through riding programs and many other equine-related activities. Participants learn tolerance, compassion, and respect for differences while improving their cognitive, physical and horsemanship skills.

Saddles and Sun Therapeutic Riding Camp

July 6 - 10, 2020 (9:00-12:30), $495

Join NVTRP this summer for a week of horse-filled fun in the sun! During this camp designed for therapeutic riders, campers will not only get to ride, but will also learn basic horse skills such as grooming, feeding and tacking and un-tacking. Between barn activities, campers will have a chance to practice their others skills with various horse-related arts, crafts, and games! Water will be provided to keep those busy campers hydrated, but riders are responsible for bringing their own lunch, a change of clothes, and any other personal needs. Attire: riding helmet-ASTM/SEI certified (required), riding pants and riding boots.

Ponies and Paintbrushes Art Therapy Camp

August 3 - 7, 2020 (9:00-12:30), $495

Join NVTRP this summer for a week of horse-filled fun in the sun! During this camp designed for therapeutic riders, campers will not only ride each day, but they will also work with our art therapist in group art sessions. Other activities include learning basic horse skills such as grooming, feeding and tacking and un-tacking. Water will be provided to keep those busy campers hydrated, but riders are responsible for bringing their own lunch, a change of clothes, and any other personal needs. Attire: riding helmet-ASTM/SEI certified (required), riding pants and riding boots.

Fairfax County Camps 

July 13-17, July 20-24, 2020 (Beginner)

July 27-31, August 10-14, 2020 (Intermediate)

Join NVTRP this summer for a week of horse-filled fun in the sun! During this camp designed for riders without disabilities, campers will ride each day and learn about horsemanship topics such as  tacking, lunging, trailering, horse first aid, form to function and more.​

  • Beginner riders will learn skills such as ring etiquette, control of horse at walk and trot, and posting. Includes horse arts and crafts and games.

  • Intermediate riders (3+ years of riding experience -- should be able to steer at the trot) will work on skills including steering ring figures at trot, beginning canter, and canter patterns if appropriate. 

 

Campers should bring lunch, drinks, riding boots with heels, and an ASTM-SEI approved helmet. Once registered, please download and complete FCPA camp forms from the Parktakes website.
