Rita Ersfeld Norton opened the AmerisourceBergen (ABC) Washington, D.C. Government Affairs office in October 2004 as Senior VP Government Affairs & Public Policy. She directs the State, Federal and Public Policy efforts of the Conshohocken, PA based pharmaceutical distribution services company.
Prior to joining ABC, Ms. Norton served as Vice President of Government Relations for Amgen from 1997 to July 2004, overseeing State and Federal Government Relations. From 1992 to 1997 she led Government Affairs for Hoffman LaRoche. Ms. Norton began her career in Washington, DC working for U.S. Senator Robert W. Kasten (R-WI), and then the Senate Appropriations Committee for Chairman Mark O. Hatfield (R-OR) from 1981 to 1987.
Ms. Norton has been involved with NVTRP for several years and has worked to expand the organizations presence in the horse community through the Washington International Horse Show and the Upperville Horse Show. She also serves on the Capital Campaign Committee.
Ms. Norton holds a BA in Communications and Political Science from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI and pursued graduate studies at Georgetown University, The University of Southern California, and Executive Education at Columbia University in New York. In addition, Ms. Norton serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Charities Foundation and Life Sciences Pennsylvania.
