RITA NORTON

Rita Ersfeld Norton joined AmerisourceBergen as Vice President of Government Affairs in October 2004.  Ms. Norton opened the Washington, DC Government Affairs office for AmerisourceBergen and oversees the State, Federal and Policy departments for the Valley Forge, PA based pharmaceutical distribution and services company. Ms. Norton was promoted to Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy in 2011.

 

Prior to joining AmerisourceBergen, Ms. Norton served as Vice President of Government Relations for Amgen from 1997 to 2004 and Vice President of Government Affairs for Hoffmann-LaRoche from 1992 to 1997.   Rita began her career in Washington, DC working for U.S. Senator Robert Kasten, Jr.  then for the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee under the chairmanship of Senator Mark O. Hatfield of Oregon.

 

Ms. Norton holds a BA in communications and political science from Marquette University, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and pursued graduate study at Georgetown University and the University of Southern California.  In addition, Ms. Norton serves on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Charities Foundation, Life Sciences Pennsylvania, and the Washington International Horse Show Association. 

 

Rita’s two grown daughters, Adele and Isabella, began riding at a young age and while both enjoyed successful competitive careers including NCEA championships in college, their time spent volunteering at NVTRP was a special and meaningful highlight for them and an inspiration for our family.
