Construction on Phase I of the Build to Thrive project has begun! The first truck arrived January 15th and activity increases daily.
Current activity includes:
NOVEC installed new, underground electric lines. Huge thanks to NOVEC for donating this work!
Erosion control measures are in place.
Work has started on the storm water management portions of the project.
The aging 5-stall barn was taken down to make room for the grading, to create the building pads for the indoor ring and barn.
The horses have settled in happily to their two temporary quarters, our next-door neighbors’ barn, and NVTRP Board Member Mitch Martin’s property just up the road. Huge thanks to both hosts for their generosity in allowing us to stay at no cost.
Phase I includes a new larger, lighted outdoor arena, expanded parking and entry-way, an accessible playground, and the very extensive site and foundation work needed to comply with Fairfax County codes and regulations. This is by far the most expensive, complicated piece of the project and includes all of the preparation work for the construction of the indoor riding arena (Phase II), and new barn (Phase III).
Fundraising for the additional $1.5M needed to complete Phases II and III continues. To learn more or make a gift, please contact Development Director Wendy Baird at wbaird@nvtrp.org or visit http://nvtrp.org/capital-campaign/.
