MARISA ALONSO, DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
Marisa Alonso comes to NVTRP with 18 years’ experience in sales, communication and marketing gained as an owner of a successful insurance agency. She began volunteering in July 2021 upon selling her business, focusing on outreach for the Military program and is excited to broaden her role as Development Associate. NVTRP’s work blends her passion for horses and giving back to the intellectually disabled community.
Marisa grew up in Oakton, Virginia, beginning riding lessons at the age of 7, and continued riding through her college years, working summers as a camp counselor at West Oak Farm. Her younger sister enjoyed spending time at the barn with her and began riding therapeutically. She ultimately gained the skills and confidence to ride alongside Marisa!
Marisa lives in Fairfax City where she is active in GMU Special Olympics, often accompanying her husband and 2 young children to coach at practices on campus and in local tournaments. In the summers they can be found boating on Lake Anna.
She is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in Politics. At UVA she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and studied abroad in Florence, Italy, fostering her love of travel and new adventures
