Our Team

Breeana Bornhorst, Executive Director
Breeana is a graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College with a B.A. in Therapeutic Riding and is a NARHA Master Instructor (one of only two master instructors in Virginia). Breeana is also an Accreditation Site Visitor and Associate Evaluator for the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (formerly NARHA). Breeana also obtained the Duke University Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Over the past ten years, Breeana’s skills have served to energize a program with two horses, 15 riders, and limited volunteers to one with thirteen horses, 108 riders per week, and a database of over 700 volunteers. She currently is serving as Chairperson of the Fairfax County Equestrian Services Task Force.
Linda Aikey, Director of Volunteer Services
Linda Aikey joined NVTRP as a volunteer in the fall of 2003 and became a NARHA Certified Instructor at the end of 2005. Joining the staff on a part-time basis in August 2007, she has become involved in many areas of the day-to-day operations of the program. She also currently volunteers as a menber of the TRAV board (Therapeutic Riding Association of Virginia).
Maryrose Bornhorst, Program Director
Maryrose has given riding instruction for over fourteen years. Certified through the American Riding Instructors Association she is a Level 2 Dressage Instructor and a NARHA Registered Instructor.
Olivia Taylor, Operations Manager
Olivia interned with NVTRP during the summers of 2010 and 2011 while in school at St. Andrews University. When she graduated in the winter of 2011 with a B.A. in Therapeutic Horsemanship, certified as a PATH registered instructor and a Special Olympics coach she returned to join the team.
Honore Hastings, Director of Special Events
Honore has many years of equine and nonprofit experience. Most recently, she was the Director of Equestrian Programs at The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia. While at Madeira, she served on their riding task force and was asked to perform an extensive internal audit of the School’s riding program to help secure the longevity of its riding program. She assisted the development office in securing financial gifts from the current families and alumnae. Honore also managed Meadowbrook Stables, a hunter/jumper/equitation lesson and show program in Chevy Chase, Maryland for almost ten years. During Honore’s tenure at Meadowbrook, the lesson and summer camp programs rose to an all-time high with more than three hundred-thirty students and more than thirty employees. Honore was one of Stables’ principal leaders in the development and the implementation of the $2 million private-public gift for the renovation of the Stables historic physical plant.
Catherine Coleman, M.S. CCC-SLP, Speech Language Pathologist
Cathy Coleman, M.S. CCC-SLP is a Speech Pathologist at NVTRP. She has been a practicing speech therapist for 17 years. She owns a pediatric private practice in Centreville, Va and is a Level 1 trained hippotherapy instructor. Cathy is also on the Board at NVTRP and chairs the Therapeutic Advisory Committee.
Mary Marchetti, Occupational Therapist
Mary Marchetti is a licensed and registered occupational therapist with over a decade of experience offering services for individuals of all ages and abilities. Mary has obtained her certification in Sensory Integration, is certified by the American Hippotherapy Association, and is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher. In addition to providing occupational therapy services in hospitals, early intervention, schools, and private practice settings, Mary’s community service activities have included: The Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Center where she is currently providing equine assisted therapy sessions (Hippotherapy); The International Adoption Center where she instructed new and prospective parents on age appropriate developmental milestones and indications for referral to therapy; Virginia Hospital Center where she designed and facilitated developmentally appropriate parent and child interaction Itsy Bitsy Yoga classes; and The Lab School of Washington where, in addition to offering OT services, she developed and implemented a therapeutic weekly Yoga Ed School Program, and a weekly after school Happy Feet exercise and nutrition program.
Patti Towsley, PT, DPT, OCS, Physical Therapist
Patti has extensive experience with cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine and sacroiliac and hip pain/dysfunctions, evaluation and treatment of neurological conditions and vestibular and other balance related dysfunctions. She has a strong background with computer based movement analysis with emphasis on equestrians and runners as well as prescription/fabrication of custom orthotics. Patti has a special interest in hand injury rehabilitation for post surgical and non surgical patients. Patti graduated from the University of Maryland with her Bachelor of Physical Therapy and Marymount University with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She also received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech University. She is a Board certified direct access provider and is a certified Sportsmetrics trainer.
Kelsey Gallagher, Community Involvement Coordinator
Kelsey Gallagher has been involved with NVTRP since 2001. She started as a volunteer and realized the difference NVTRP makes in peoples lives and continued to get more involved. She is a NARHA Registered Instructor and the Community Involvement Coordinator. As Community Involvement Coordinator, she uses her passion for NVTRP’s mission and her love of working with people to raise awareness and funds for the program.
Catherine Beck, Office Manager
In October of 2003 Catherine called NVTRP to inquire about opportunities for her daughter, Natalie. Breeana Bornhorst stated during that call, "once admitted, you are in for life." The Beck family took Bree’s statement to heart. Natalie is in her 7th year as a rider and now Catherine joins the NVTRP staff. Catherine is a graduate of Robert Morris University. She has worked for nationwide corporations in logistical and managerial areas. Her IT and organizational back ground combined with experiencing NVTRP from the parent’s perspective is a plus for the organization.
